We have a new writer in our midst… The Youngstown Fireman Blog is fairly new to the scene and offers up some fires, training, lessons learned, and day to day life in the firehouse. It kinda reminds me of me (minus all the fires!).
The blog is run by Jamie Goodlet.
The site is promising… 3 things could help it be better right off the bat.
- Smaller header image. You should have content start above the fold!
- Wider blog format. A very small percentage use 800×600 aspect ratio anymore. I say to hell with that 2-3% and make them scroll.
- A link to Fire Critic.
Keep up the great work Jamie. I am glad you had fun at Andy Fredericks Training Days down here in VA!

Good site, but agree that he needs more links. When talking about the Andy Frederick Days, he could have linked to a site about it, even a newspaper article. I like the pictures and videos on it; makes for better content! Like the lessons he learns from each fire.
Hey guys,
Thank you for your suggestions! I have already made some changes… Added the Fire Critic link (duhhh) and a link to the Andy Fredricks Training Days site! I am also working on a new header (a cool logo) that is a lot smaller. I wanted to make a site that had a little less writing and more cool fires. That's why you will see more pictures and videos of fires than my opinions written out. However, I will continue doing tips and lessons learned. Also I have some very, very good recipes on there. If you have any more suggestions, I would appreciate you letting me know! Thanks again guys!

I love following the “shoutouts” when you find these great blogs. Thanks for sharing.
hydrantgirl,
What are “shoutouts”?
Jamie
Jamie, I think you misunderstood it as “Shootout”. It is actually a “Shoutout”. Just my way of showcasing blogs like yours. The hydrantgirl is a fan!
I got ya! I just didn't know what a “shoutout” was. Again, I appreciate the “shoutout”
and I am in the process of making some changes based on your suggestions! The content was the most important to me… I can always make some changes to the layout, but if the content stinks I'm kind of stuck… Know what I mean?
