Helmet Camera Video of House Fire in Hagerman, New York. I can hear it now: And the Oscar for best Score in a Helmet Camera Video Goes to…

Check out this Helmet Camera video from a fire in Hagerman, New York.

Hagerman is located on Long Island. Their website is here.

No doubt they spent some time figuring out the songs for this video.

1st Assistant Chief Tony Citarella (5-10-31) was the first to respond to the call. While en-route dispatch notified him that the caller is stating the house is “fully engulfed”. 31 arrived on scene and confirmed he had a working structure fire. He immediately requested for 1 Engine from Bellport Fire Department, a RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) from Brookhaven Fire Department, and North Patchogue Fire Department for an Engine to standby at Hagerman’s quarters.

Just a point of clarification: This is the Hagerman Fire Department in East Patchogue, NY, which is on the south shore of Long Island. Readers should go check out the video page on their department website, neat brush truck they have there, and the video of their rescue competition in Calgary is impressive. Very together outfit from what I can see.

Can we PLEASE stop adding background music to these helmet videos? We finally have the technology to see and hear what goes on during fires, up close and personal stuff, yet some Cameron wanna-be ruins it by dubbing the score to Gladiator. Guy, relax with your Avatar production and just let the video play out.

I got an idea! How about we fight the fire from the interior instead of playing with cams in the front yard looking through a window. Way to save the gate post there guys. Seems like these day’s everybody just wants to say “look at me I’m a FF” why can’t they just train, learn and do their job! There are still photos and video of this fire which means at least two people were doing nothing. I been on the job for a long time and I haven’t figured out how to fight fire and take pictures at the same time yet. These are the types of things that give us a bad reputation in the fire service. What if it was your house, and you stood there watching everything you own burn? And then to see the video? What would you say? ” Oh well I have nothing left except the cloths on my back but they got cool music “. I applaud the men and women for stepping up to the plate but let’s do it with some tact. From the looks of the video this may have been a house trailer that was built onto which may call for a defensive attack. Even so we as professionals need to act as professionals always. I will be the first to admit that I don’t know the whole story, but this is the on you’ve told me through this video and pictures.
