The Daily Show: 9/11 First Responders React to the Lame as F@#k Congress

The other day, I posted Jon Stewart’s Lame as F@#k Congress. The feature on the Daily Show was an eye opener for many and focused on the Republicans who killed the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.

The show below shows four 9/11 First Responders giving their thoughts on the Filibuster by Republicans.

I’m tired of people blaming “The Republicans” in the lame-duck session for “blocking” this bill. The Republicans can’t block a single thing! The Democrats – until January – still have a super majority in the House and a majority in the Senate. If they wanted to pass it, they could.

Also, instead of having this Zadroga Act as stand-alone legislation, like it should be, they keep adding it as part other legislation that has nothing to do with helping 9/11 responders. The Zadroga Act can’t get passed because it’s part of larger spending bills that the government HAS NO MONEY FOR. I know that’s difficult for people to understand, but it is true. I firmly believe it would get passed as stand-alone legislation. I also get tired of the same old mantra that the Democrats are the only ones that care for the little people…what a load of bull. My colleagues in the fire service need to stop drinking the IAFF Kool-Aid.

Amen and ditto to what he said above! Speaking from the perspective of a 20 + year dues paying IAFF member, this can not be blamed on the Republicans! The Dems have the majority in the House, Senate, and the Oval Office and still can not deliver for the fire service. When are we going to wake up and stop blindly supporting the left. They are not union friendly. It was the same story for collective bargaining. They are more concerned with loading up the bills with pork barrel projects that get them re-elected, expand the debt and not concerned with helping out the fire service. Same old story, the Dems pork-laden bills will not pass so they blame the Republicans even though other Democrats voted against their own party on these bills.

This blame game is not working much anymore because more and more voters are starting to pay attention to politics. This past November should have served as a wake up call folks. Democrats power lost by historic numbers. The fire service might be wise to start looking elsewhere for support in Congress and stop throwing away their votes on Dems who do nothing for us.

      Let’s see:
      Democratic President – check
      Democratic Senate Majority – check
      Democratic House Majority – check
Results for fire service = Nothing

      Just my 2 cents.
