Scott Hedges hit me up on Facebook with a picture of a custom Fire Critic helmet shield and told me he is sending it my way and he would like a review. I said I would be happy to. I have reviewed products from many custom leather shops and the passion, detail, and individual uniqueness of each shop continues to amaze me. HedgesLeather is no different.

While I don’t know much about the complete process in making a shield, I would say that mine is custom painted with some extensive detail. Outside of the circle is recessed to an edge that is full thickness. The shield is one piece 1/4″ thick. He even stamped the back back with his brand (something unique I hadn’t seen before).
The unique craftsmanship that stands out with HedgesLeather is the recessed parts on the helmet. Like it is routed out by a leather CMC machine. It really helps the focus remain on the middle which shows off whatever you want it to. In this case, it is a rendering of the Fire Critic Challenge Coin.
HedgesLeather also makes: Helmet Fronts, Bunker Coat ID’s, Leather Koozie’s, and Leather Buckets.
If you don’t believe me, check out what HPFirefighter.com had to say about HedgesLeather!
Pros: Expert quality and craftsmanship!
Cons: Get your order in SOON! Often after reviews for custom leather shops on FireCritic.com they get backlogged.
I would recommend HedgesLeather to others, and I will give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
