Video by: william rashak. Video info: A Jersey City firefighter was injured in the collapse of a stairway in a fire that involved four frame buildings at Central and Tenth St. in Union City. Five other firefighters suffered burns and at least a dozen families were displaced in the 4:45 P.M. blaze.
Two firefighters from Jersey City were hurt when a stairwell collapsed. One of the firefighters was seen being removed from the home on a stretcher.
They were taken to a nearby hospital for back injuries. The other officers were treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

Video by: Hudson County View. Video info: Seven firefighters received some form of medical treatment, including two that were treated for burns – with 15 families being displaced – as the result of a 5-alarm fire that quickly spread through a Union City building yesterday.
Video by: Hudson County TV. Video info: UNION CITY – A 5-alarm fire left seven firefighters injured and more than a dozen people displaced on Sunday, July 26th. The fire started Sunday evening in a row of houses on 10th Street and quickly spread to three neighboring buildings.
Hudson spoke with North Hudson’s Fire Chief, Frank Montagne, about the incident.
Five North Hudson firefighters were injured while two Jersey City firefighters were injured and transported to the hospital after a stairwell collapsed. Officials say they had neck and back injuries. Other officers were treated for burns and/or smoke inhalation.
A total of fifteen people were displaced. Red Cross has a shelter open for residents who have been displaced by the fire. The shelter is located at the Jose Marti Freshman Academy at 1800 Summit Ave. in Union City. Emergency assistance will be on site.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
