Public Safety Confessions on Facebook – a new page has sprouted up and I am wondering what you all think about it. Here is the idea behind it:
It is a “confessions page”. People who need to vent or bitch out a person with out actually publicly doing so can. We have a anonymous survey up so anyone can submit a confession and then I post it to FB. It can never be tracked back to the person. These confessions pages are all the rage on college campuses. Way for kids to vent about school, and professors and life as a student. There are a few rules including: no mentioning people by name, no saying exact depts, no talk of doing illegal activity, no harassment.

3 Helmet Camera Videos From the Past Week

Below are three helmet camera videos from the past week. Check them out.

The first one is from Sharon, PA. Video by Mike Unrue. He states “Sharon Pennsylvania Fire Dept. Capt. Mike Unrue’s helmet cam captures an apartment fire from a first person perspective. This allows you to see and then not see what we actually deal with when fighting a structure fire. This is a two story row house style apartment building containing six different apartments side by side. The helmet cam eventually fogs up due to the cold temperatures that day that were approximatly 18 degrees F. I hope to correct this in future videos. That aside this video captures axactly what we see in a fire which isn’t much. We rely mostly on hearing to find the seat of the fire. We can hear the water turn to steam when we hit a hot spot and continue working room to room until we have the fire out. In a couple areas you will see only an orange glow and then some fire as i advance towards it. As i hit the fire with water the room goes instantly black again. The date and time on the cam are wrong but you can use the time as a reference as to how long it took to get the fire out from the time the water was first applied. Hope you find the video enlightening. Thank you for viewing.”

More information on the fire can be seen at BackstepFirefighter.com.

This video is from JW0LFY of a house fire in St. Paul, Minnesota.

STATter911.com has more on the fire here.

The last one features roof ops in this video by 1986sosik. The video states “Dickson city ladder 23 responded to area 27(Throop pa) for a working fire. This is helmet cam video of the ladder co performing vertical ventilation.”

STATter911.com has more on the fire here as well.

Helmet Camera Video: Defensive “Blitz” Attack Used Prior to Making Interior Attack on House Fire in Nov. Whitehall, PA Fire

This video is for a house fire back in November in Whitehall Township, PA. The Helmet camera footage catches a blitz attack (that’s what we call it) via defensive position prior to making an interior attack on the fire. Not something I see everyday. Have you ever used a blitz attack?

Outside video of the fire can be seen in a separate video below uploaded back when the fire occurred.

Video from firtog

11.15.12 @ 0335 hrs Stations 36 and 37 were dispatched to 820 4th St for the Dwelling Fire, while crews were responding WPD and 3501 confirmed a working fire. Squad 36 arrives first due and goes in service with a 2.5 and Deck Gun to darken
down the fire. E3712 arrives and lays a supply the crew then takes a 1 3/4 from 3611 and makes the front door. A 3rd line is then stretched to the rear for crews to make the basement, the Truck 36 Crew goes to the roof and opens up. A 4th line is pulled from 3611 and is used to knock down exterior fire on the building, All searches are negative and the fire is under control in about an hour. Crews will remain on location for most of the day for fire watch and investigative purposes…

The “extensive” Tuesday afternoon fire that ripped through a Milton home Tuesday left the family homeless and killed one of the family’s pets, said Milton Fire Chief Sam Shaffer.

No one was home when the blaze broke out and a bystander was able to rescue one of the family’s dogs, but another perished in the fire, Shaffer said.

“They lost one dog and a bystander broke a window and pulled the other one out,” he said.

Hectic Scene Caught on Helmet Camera as Firefighter is Rescued after Electrical Shock During House Fire

This video starts out as firefighters frantically try to get a firefighter out of a house after being shocked by an electrical wire. Once the firefighter is removed, the ladder throwing begins. You might remember this ladder throwing machine from this video.

According to reports, two firefighters were injured in the fire. One as seen in the video was shocked by an electrical wire and will be okay. The other was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

Video: Stubborn House Fire in PA. Venting the Roof Does the Trick

While the video doesn’t begin when firefighters are on scene, it does show firefighters trying to get to the seat of the fire…or at least the remainder of the fire that is causing them trouble. What we don’t see is the possible attack on the fire inside the house before the video begins.

Firefighters head to the roof to cut a hole and are met with fire venting from the roof once the hole is cut. Also note the windy conditions they are working with.

The fire was at 341 North Vine Street, Berwick Borough, Columbia County, PA.

Once the roof is cut, the operation goes defensive. The fire occurred on 10-29 according to the video, but I believe it has just now made it to youtube. One part of the video is below, there are a total of 7 available here.

Raw Video: House Fire in Peckville, PA

It seems as though there was an issue with getting water to the front door. I am not sure what exactly happened, but they have a hydrant and a crew on the front steps, but they have to wait on water. They finally get a knock down on the fire, but it seems as though it had made its way to the attic.

I couldn’t find anything else on this fire. Peckville, PA Ladder 20 is on scene, but that is about all I have. Further information is welcome.

You heard it right! Santa Claus was seen changing air bottles out at this house fire in Dickson City, PA on December 23rd. He hangs out a while watching over the firefighters as they hit hot spots on the fire.

Watch as at just :14 seconds in Santa Claus helps with the air bottle of another firefighter.

The fire occurred at 724 Carmalt Street right next door to two vacant lots where an explosion and fire occurred two years ago killing 2 people.

http://thetimes-tribune.com:

The blaze, which ripped through their 724 Carmalt St. residence, destroyed all the Christmas presents Ms. Branch bought for her 13-year-old daughter and more than likely killed their cat, Flicker, and parakeet, Birdie.

They escaped with only the clothes on their backs and Claudia’s bookbag.

“I have nothing for her now,” said Ms. Branch, who saw the fire flare in a computer room on the second floor. “It just happened so fast.”
